Guide to Designing a Flyer in Word 2010
Step 1 : Go to Insert > Shapes and select New Drawing Canvas as shown:
Step 2 : Right-click on the inner part of the newly created frame and select More Layout Options:
In the panel that appears, go to the Text Wrapping tab and select Print font of text and click OK:
Step 3 : Right-click on the newly created frame and select Format Drawing Canvas:
Step 4 : In the panel that appears, go to the Line Color tab and select Solid line and then choose a color for the border of the newly created frame:
Go to the Line Style tab and choose the width for the border of the newly created frame:
Step 5 : Click on the Rectangle icon available on the upper toolbar and draw on the inside of the flyer frame another frame as shown. Then right-click on this frame and select Format Shape:
Step 6: On the Fill tab, select Solid Fill and then select the color of the frame just drawn:
Go to the Line Color tab and select No Line to remove the frame border:
Then go to the Shadow tab and choose the shadow effect you like for the frame just created:
Step 7 : Right-click on the newly created frame again and select Add Text:
Then you type in the text to advertise your service or product. Next, highlight the text and then right-click and select Font to set the typeface for the text:
Step 8 : You choose the typeface, font size, font color,… for the text as you want and then click OK :
Step 9 : To make the text match the size of the newly created frame, right-click on the border of the newly created frame and select Format Shape:
Go to the Text Box tab, then check Resize Shape to fit text so that the text always fits snugly into the frame:
Step 10 : Go to Insert > WordArt and select a typeface art you want:
You enter the text you want to animate into the text frame that appears and then resize it:
Step 11 : You insert a piece of text into the flyer by going to the Insert > Text Box and then selecting Draw Text Box:
Next, enter the text and select the text and then right-click, select Font. Then you proceed to edit the font color, font size,… for the text:
Step 12 : To remove the border for the text, right-click on the border of the text box and click on the pen icon and select No Outline as shown below:
Step 13: To insert clip art into the flyer, go to Insert > Clip Art and then you type in the search box the type of Clip Art you want to find, for example, here I find clip art with the keyword IT:
Step 14 : You insert into the flyer a text box similar to the one above, then point your mouse into the text box and click on the Clip art icon you want in the Clip Art pane on the right, Clip art will be inserted right into this text box:
Similarly, you can insert many other clip art:
Next, remove the border for this text box similar to the above:
Step 15: You can insert another Shape frame at the end of the flyer such as Rounded Rectangle by selecting Insert > Shapes and then selecting the Rounded Rectangle icon as shown:
Similar to when you first create a Rectangle frame, you proceed to edit the color, border, shadow effect, and other effects for this Rounded Rectangle frame:
